On November 6, 2023, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong met with a visiting Singaporean delegation consisting of permanent secretaries. They held talks on such issues as China-Singapore relations and China's foreign policy on its neighborhood.

Nong Rong said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Singapore relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. In March this year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong jointly announced the elevation of China-Singapore relations to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, charting a new blueprint for bilateral relations. The China-Singapore Bilateral Cooperation Mechanism Meetings slated for next month are an important political agenda for both countries this year. The two sides should step up efforts to plan the meeting and ensure its success.

Nong Rong noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's proposal of the vision of building a human community with a shared future, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in neighborhood diplomacy. Under the strategic guidance of head-of-state diplomacy, China will continue to deepen friendship, mutual trust and convergence of interests with Singapore and other neighboring countries. China will actively implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, jointly safeguard, build, and develop the Asian home, and enable the vision of a community with a shared future to take root and bear fruitful results in Asia.

Nong Rong also answered questions from members of the Singaporean delegation on China-ASEAN relations, China's foreign aid, digital economy, sustainable development, and the Palestine-Israel conflict, among others.

The Singaporean side spoke highly of the development of Singapore-China relations and China's important role in international and regional affairs. They said that they have benefited greatly from this exchange event and are ready to contribute to the development of Singapore-China relations.

The visiting Singaporean delegation consists of 28 permanent secretary-level officials from various departments of the Singaporean government, military, and public services. It is an important training program for senior officials from Singapore.
