Attitude of the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait towards the Anti-Secession Law

During the meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhang Zhijun to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Assistant Undersecretary for Political Affairs Tariq Hamdan of the UAE Foreign Ministry said that the UAE adheres to the one-China principled position and the Anti-Secession Law passed by the National People's Congress of China (NPC) is conducive to the solution of the Taiwan question. Hamdan stressed that the UAE fully understands and supports China's formulation of the Law and supports the efforts of the Chinese government and people in maintaining the national sovereignty and territorial integrity and realizing national reunification.

Khaled Al-Jarallah, the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, noted that the Anti-Secession Law is the choice of all the Chinese people and reflects their wishes. Jarallah stressed that the Taiwan issue is an internal affair of China and the Chinese government is entitled to taking any measures it renders appropriate to solve the issue. Kuwait adheres to the principled stance that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and completely understands and respects the choice of the Chinese people.
