On December 21, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met with a press delegation from Bahrain. Zhai briefed on China-Bahrain ties, China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, China's domestic situation and the 17th CPC Congress. He hoped the press community in Bahrain will play a positive role in promoting mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples. He also asked the journalists to closely follow the building of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, especially the third ministerial meeting of the forum to be held in Bahrain next year.

The head of the press delegation thanked for the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, expressing hope that this visit will help them gain a better understating of China and introduce China to the people of Bahrain and other Gulf nations in a more comprehensive and accurate way.

Zhai also took questions from the journalists on China's foreign policy, its policy towards developing countries, as well as issues related to Hong Kong and Taiwan.
