On March 29, 2021 local time, Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Manama.

Wang Yi said, China cherishes its traditional friendship with Bahrain and is willing to work with the country to carry forward the fine tradition of mutual trust and mutual support between the two countries, and jointly safeguard the legitimate interests of the two sides, the development rights of developing countries, and world peace and stability. China appreciates His Royal Highness Prince's personal participation in China's vaccine clinical trials, and stands ready to advance vaccine cooperation with Bahrain and provide support and assistance within its capacity in Bahrain's fight against the pandemic. China hopes the two sides will enhance the synergy between the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Bahrain's "Economic Vision 2030", and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in fields such as infrastructure construction, big data, and e-commerce, so as to contribute to the upgrading quality of Bahrain's economy.

Wang Yi said, against the backdrop that the world is entering a period of turbulence and change, joint cooperation among various countries is essential for maintaining world peace and stability. Non-interference in other countries' internal affairs is a basic norm in international relations and the world should first and foremost put their own house in order. Willfully interfering in other countries' internal affairs and suppressing other countries with distorted information will lead to nowhere but escalation of international tension. Multilateralism is the cornerstone of world peace and stability, the foundation of international rule of law, and a guarantee for the survival of small and medium-sized countries. Unilateral bullying finds no support, and bloc confrontation is "pseudo-multilateralism". The pandemic is a stark reminder that all countries are in a community with a shared future. All countries should rise above differences of social systems, ideologies and cultural backgrounds, work together to protect "Earth home", on which we depend for survival, and join hands to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Salman said, Bahrain-China relations have made great progress in recent years. Bahrain sincerely appreciates China's strong support in its fight against the pandemic, and is proud of participating in the international Phase III clinical trial of China's COVID-19 vaccine. The Chinese vaccine has demonstrated sufficient safety and efficacy, and it not only protects people's lives and health, but also enhances Bahraini people's understanding of and goodwill towards China. Bahrain hopes to further promote vaccine cooperation with China. As a major country in the world, China firmly upholds multilateralism and safeguards the international order underpinned by international law, which will bring far-reaching implications to world peace, stability and prosperity. Bahrain firmly supports China's efforts to this end. Bahrain is willing to keep closer exchanges and visits with China at all levels, and deepen cooperation in various fields such as energy, infrastructure construction and high technology, lifting the friendly cooperative relations to a new level.
