On August 31, 2021, Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li met with outgoing Bahraini Ambassador to China Anwar Alabdulla.

Deng Li spoke positively of Anwar Alabdulla's efforts to promote China-Bahrain relations during his tenure as Bahraini Ambassador to China. He hopes that Anwar Alabdulla will continue to care for and support the development of China-Bahrain relations after returning to his homeland. Deng Li said that Bahrain is a sincere friend of China. China and Bahrain have always supported each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. The pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two sides has been steadily advancing, and good cooperation has been maintained within the frameworks of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. China is willing to work with Bahrain to further strengthen political mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and elevate China-Bahrain relations to a higher level.

Anwar expressed his gratitude for China's support during his tenure, stressing that Bahrain will continue to firmly support China on issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Xizang and Hong Kong, and oppose the politicization of the origin tracing of COVID-19. Bahrain is ready to deepen cooperation with China in all areas and push bilateral relations to a new level.
