Wang Yi Meets With Secretary-General Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman

On April 15, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Secretary-General Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman in Beijing, who was in China to attend the eighth round of strategic consultation between the Chinese and Omani Foreign Ministries.

Wang Yi said that the Chinese side attaches great importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Oman. China hopes that the Omani side will continue to play its important role in promoting the resumption of the negotiations on China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) free trade area and an early agreement. Oman is expected to take an active part in the building of the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "Silk Road On the Sea of the 21st Century". He welcomes Yousef bin Allawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of Oman, to attend the sixth Ministerial Conference of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) this June in Beijing.

Badr said that Oman is willing to further promote the friendly relations in various fields between the two countries. Oman supports the early resumption of the negotiations on China-GCC free trade area, and the signing of the agreement. He highly appreciated and expressed his willingness to take an active part in the initiatives proposed by Chinese leaders of building the "one Belt and one Road" and of setting up the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Oman will actively participate in the sixth Ministerial Conference of the CASCF and work together with China to push forward Oman-China relations.
