On June 6, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Youssef bin Alawi bin Abdullah of Oman..

Alawi congratulated China on successfully hosting the sixth ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and said that Oman has a strong will to expand relations with China. President Xi Jinping proposed that China and the Arab states co-building the "One Belt One Road" brings opportunities for bilateral cooperation; from this proposal Oman can find many integrating points for its economic development plan. Oman hopes to establish closer economic and trade relations with China, especially in fishery and agriculture. Oman is ready to push forward the construction of Gulf Cooperation Council-China Free Trade Area (GCC-China FTA) and work with China to carry out tripartite cooperation with Africa, Pakistan and Central Asian countries.

Wang Yi said that during the ministerial meeting of this Forum, China and Oman jointly outlined a grand blueprint for the development of bilateral relations in the next ten years. China looks forward to Oman's positive role in the construction of "One Belt One Road", and believes that bilateral relations would benefit from such construction and make faster and greater development.

Wang Yi said that China appreciates that Oman has adopted a moderate and balanced foreign policy and attaches importance to developing its relations with China --"Towards East". Oman is a reliable friend and good partner of China in the Middle East and Gulf region. In the next stage, both sides should tighten communication at various levels and continue to provide mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other's core interests; cooperation should be strengthened in areas concerned by Oman such as fishing, agriculture and energy, finance, and infrastructure construction. China encourages Chinese enterprises to actively participate in the construction of Oman's Duqm Special Economic Zone, Oman's railway and other projects and welcomes Oman to actively take part in the construction of "One Belt One Road" and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. China holds a positive attitude towards the tripartite cooperation with Oman, and hopes that Oman continues to play a positive role in GCC so as to strive for the early resumption and completion of China-GCC FTA negotiations.
