On November 1, 2015, the Omani Foreign Ministry held a grand ceremony to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the successful voyage to East Asia of the sailing vessel "Jewel of Muscat". Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming participated in the production of the documentary and gave exclusive interview at invitation.

Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming expressed that distance will not separate friends who truly understand each other. People of China and Oman interacted with and understood each other through ancient maritime Silk Road. Under the current background of jointly building "Belt and Road" between China and other countries along the route including Oman, he believes that China and Oman will become closer partners and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results. The documentary was played at the celebration, receiving warm applause from representatives of the Omani Royal Family, officials of all levels of Oman and foreign envoys to Oman.

His Highness Sayyid Badr Hamad Al-Busaidi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, noted in his speech that it is under the joint efforts of Oman, China and other Indian Ocean rim countries that the ancient maritime Silk Road became an important bond connecting the East and the West. Oman stands ready to, together with China and other Asian countries, build a more vigorous 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to benefit people in Asia.

Former Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon and Iran Liu Zhentang attended the celebration upon invitation and exchanged views with the Omani side, stressing that by carrying forward the Silk Road spirit and taking the construction of "Belt and Road" as an opportunity, the Chinese side will constantly expand cooperation in all sectors with the Omani side and elevate the China-Oman relations to a new level. Ambassador Liu Zhentang also gave interviews to media including Oman General TV and Oman General Radio. H.E. Yu Fulong, Chinese Ambassador to Oman, attended aforementioned activities.

The "Jewel of Muscat" is an archaistic ship built by the Omani government. It is modeled after an Arab merchant ship in the 9th century that sailed from China with gold, silver, jewels and chinaware but sank in the Indonesian waters on its way to Oman. In 1998, the ship was salvaged. In 2010, the "Jewel of Muscat" sailed from Oman and successful arrived in Singapore, finishing the entire voyage of the Maritime Silk Road.
