Wang Yong Visits Oman

From May 22 to 23, 2016, State Councilor Wang Yong visited Oman, during which he met with Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmud al-Said, Minister of Transport and Communications Ahmed Mohammed Salem Al-Futaisi, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi of Oman in the capital city Muscat respectively, reaching new consensus on deepening China-Oman traditional friendship and promoting bilateral cooperation on building the "Belt and Road".

Wang Yong expressed that Oman is an important partner of China in the course of carrying forward the construction of the "Belt and Road". China is willing to stick to the principle of mutual benefit and reciprocity, promote China's high quality production capacity and advanced industrial technology to enter Oman, and help Oman build major infrastructures such as high-speed railways, highways, airports, and ports. China supports Chinese enterprises in actively participating in the project of Chinese Industrial Park in the Duqm Special Economic Zone. China stands ready to join hands with Oman to expand bilateral cooperation in fields including communication, finance, investment, aerospace, petrochemical industry and renewable energy, push a series of industrial projects to be launched in Oman as early as possible, and create new highlights of China-Oman practical cooperation.

Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmud al-Said and other senior leaders of Oman stated that China’s economy, featuring sustained development, is still the main engine of world economic growth, of which Oman is strongly confident. The "Belt and Road" initiative is a significant opportunity to Oman. Oman support and is willing to work with China to advance cooperation in various fields such as infrastructure, production capacity, aerospace and communication as well as others, so as to realize complementarity of advantages and common development.

During the visit to Oman, Wang Yong also attended the signing and unveiling ceremony of the Chinese Industrial Park in the Duqm Special Economic Zone.
