Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong Visits Oman

From December 6 to 7, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong visited Oman, during which he respectively met with Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Youssef bin Alawi Abdullah of Oman and Advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for Economic Planning Affairs Mohammad bin Al Zubair, and held the eleventh strategic consultation between the two Foreign Ministries with Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi of Oman, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.

Chen Xiaodong expressed that the general goal of the major country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics proposed at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is to foster a new type of international relations and build a community with a shared future for mankind, which will bring more opportunities for the development of China-Oman relations. China is willing to take the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Oman in 2018 as an opportunity, strengthen the docking of development strategies, concepts and policies, deepen practical cooperation in all fields, and expand coordination and cooperation in regional and international affairs, so as to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.

The Omani side spoke highly of China's development achievements and President Xi Jinping’s new vision, new thinking and new strategies for state governance and administration. The Omani side wishes to continue to enhance bilateral relations, actively participate in the building of the "Belt and Road", and push Oman-China relations for greater development.
