On June 9, 2020, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong and Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi of Oman held consultation via video link between Chinese and Omani Foreign Ministries. Both sides exchanged views on cooperation in COVID-19 response, bilateral relations and topics of common interests.

Chen Xiaodong expressed, China and Oman have supported each other since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. Against the current backdrop, countries need to abide by the principle of multilateralism, support the work of World Health Organization (WHO) and other international organizations, and work together to safeguard the global public health security. Chen Xiaodong expressed China's readiness to join hands with the Omani side, continue to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, render support to each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns, and step up practical cooperation in various field under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, in a bid to inject new impetus into China-Oman strategic partnership.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi expressed, China was among the first to bring COVID-19 under control and fully restore social and economic production and activities. China's successful experience is worth of learning. The Omani side appreciates the Chinese side's valuable assistance in fighting the virus, and is prepared to jointly champion multilateralism with the Chinese side, and firmly support WHO in carrying out relevant work. Firmly supporting China's "one country, two systems", the Omani side opposes interfering in China's internal affairs, and supports the measures taken by the Chinese side to safeguard national security. The Omani side stands ready to continue to advance friendly and mutually-beneficial cooperation with the Chinese side, intensify communication and coordination on international and regional issues and push Oman-China relations for greater development.
