On May 20, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Xianfa met with visiting Special Envoy of the Palestinian President and Vice Chairman of Palestinian National Liberation Movement Mahmoud al-Aloul.

Mahmoud al-Aloul introduced the latest situation of the Palestinian issue, and thanked the Chinese side for firmly supporting the Palestinian people for a long time. He expressed that the Palestinian side attaches importance to China's influence as a major country, and expects China to continue to uphold justice and play a greater role in promoting the settlement of the Palestinian issue and in maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.

Liu Xianfa stressed that the Chinese side's stance on the Palestinian issue is consistent and clear. The Chinese side supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state enjoying full sovereignty on the basis of the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and will as always stand together with the Palestinian side and Arab states, and support the Palestinian side's choice made on the basis of the interests of the Palestinian people. The Palestinian side will also make joint efforts with forces in the international community that support peace between Palestine and Israel to continue to safeguard and push forward the Middle East peace progress, support the "two-state solution", and make unremitting efforts to advance the comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue at an early date.
