On December 7, 2019, President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine met at the Presidential Office in Ramallah with Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, Palestine-Israel situation and other topics. Director of the Office of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine Guo Wei was present.

On December 8, Zhai Jun also met with Palestinian officials including Saeb Erekat, General Secretary of Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian chief negotiator for Palestine-Israel peace talks; Shaath, Member of Fatah Central Committee; Abbas Zaki, Member of Fatah Central Committee and Head of the Central Committee's Relations with China and the Arab World Commission; and Nasser Alkidwa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yasser Arafat Foundation. He also gave a joint interview to Chinese and foreign media including Palestine News Agency, Maan News Agency, Palestine National TV and National Radion Station , Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Al-Quds and Xinhua News Agency.
