Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun Speaks with Responsible Officials of Palestinian and Egyptian Foreign Ministries on the Palestine-Israel Conflict on the Phone

On May 18 and May 19, 2021, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun had a phone conversation with Palestinian First Deputy Foreign Minister Amal Jadou and Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister Nazih al-Najari on the Palestine-Israel conflict, respectively.

Zhai Jun introduced the important propositions of State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, including promoting ceasefire and cessation of violence, providing humanitarian assistance to Palestine, making the Security Council to play a due role, and causing Palestine and Israel to resume peace talks on the basis of the "two-state solution". He emphasized, China firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights and supports the mediation efforts of all parties concerned, including Egypt, and will continue to play a constructive role in bringing about a just solution to the Palestinian question.

Jadou and Najari highly appreciated the efforts of State Councilor Wang Yi to chair United Nations Security Council Open Debate on Palestine-Israel Conflict and put forward important propositions, saying that China's propositions respond to the core concerns of the Palestinian and Arab peoples and reflect the country's impartial stance on the Palestinian question and its role as a responsible major force. They expressed the gratitude of Palestine and Arab countries for China's stand on the side of speaking up for justice and telling the truth in the Security Council. They look forward to getting continued support from China for cooling of the situation as soon as possible.
