Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun Visits Qatar

On July 4, 2023, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun visited Qatar, during which he met with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi and the two sides had an exchange of views on bilateral relations and regional situation.

Zhai Jun said that China-Qatar relations have made great progress in recent years. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Qatar. China is ready to work with Qatar to take bilateral relations to a higher level by following the direction set by the two heads of state. China attaches importance to Qatar’s unique and important role in international and regional affairs, and is ready to strengthen communication with Qatar to jointly commit to safeguarding international and regional peace and stability.

Al-Khulaifi said that Qatar and China enjoy a profound relationship and the two sides have maintained high-level coordination and cooperation in various fields. Qatar is firmly committed to the one-China policy and is ready to further strengthen bilateral friendly relations in various fields. The Qatari side spoke highly of the positive role China has played in promoting the improvement of relations among regional countries. Qatar looks forward to strengthening communication and coordination with China on regional hotspot issues to further ease the regional situation.
