On April 1, 2021, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun had a phone conversation with Saudi Arabian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir at the latter's request. The two sides exchanged views on China-Saudi Arabia relations and regional issues of common concern.
