From October 24 to 25, 2023, the 10th Symposium on China-Arab Relations and China-Arab Civilization Dialogue was held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun, Minister of State to the UAE Cabinet Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Director of the Department of Culture and Dialogue of Civilizations of the League of Arab States (LAS) Maha Gad and others attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Nearly 80 representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Council Information Office, and renowned research institutions of China, as well as 18 Arab states and the LAS were present.

Zhai Jun said that the current situation between Palestine and Israel has escalated suddenly. Against this backdrop, it is relevant for both sides to discuss topics such as strengthening exchanges between civilizations, calling for peaceful dialogue, and achieving peaceful coexistence. China and Arab states are natural partners in acting on the Global Civilization Initiative. Both sides should advocate respect for the diversity of world civilizations and reject arrogance and prejudice. Both sides should carry forward humanity's common values and tear down walls instead of building walls. Both sides should advocate the importance of inheritance and innovations of civilizations and create a new model for human advancement. Both sides should strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and promote mutual understanding and people-to-people connectivity between the two sides.

The participants had in-depth exchanges on topics such as "strengthening exchanges of civilizations and achieving peaceful coexistence", "respecting diverse cultures and ethnic characteristics, and fostering brotherly friendship among humanity", "engaging in civilization dialogue and promoting the development and prosperity of human society", and "calling for peaceful dialogue to consolidate the foundation of peace and stability". Both sides agreed that China and Arab states should jointly promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and make all-out efforts to build a China-Arab community with a shared future in the new era. The Arab side highly appreciates and welcomes the Global Civilization Initiative, and expects China to play a greater role in hotspot issues.
