Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister of Yemen Abu Bakr al-Qirbi

On 13 November 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister of Yemen Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, who is accompanying Yemeni President Abdorabuh Mansour Hadi on a visit to China.

Wang Yi expressed that China attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Yemen, respects sovereign independence and territorial integrity of Yemen and supports its process of political transition. China hopes Yemen will resolve differences through dialogue and find a path of development suited to its own national conditions. China is ready to further intensify the efforts to help Yemen promote economic and social reconstruction.

Abu Bakr al-Qirbi expressed that the situation in the Middle East region is undergoing complex changes. It requires not only political changes, but more importantly, a stable situation, economic growth and improvement of people's livelihood. We appreciate China for supporting the resolution of the crisis through political dialogue, for upholding justice on Palestine and other issues and for playing a positive role in the UN Security Council. The Yemeni side is grateful for China's long-time support and help and is ready to further strengthen strategic friendly relations between the two countries.

Abu Bakr al-Qirbi as well expressed congratulations for the successful convening of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee.
