On June 4, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi of Yemen in Beijing, who came China to attend the sixth ministerial meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF). The two Foreign Ministers reached consensus on ensuring the success of the ministerial meeting, strengthening the construction of the Forum, and upgrading the level of China-Arab collective cooperation.

Al-Qirbi expressed that China is a reliable cooperative partner of Yemen. China is sincerely committed to developing mutually beneficial cooperation and traditional friendship with the Arab states, without any self-interest of its own. The Yemeni side condemns the acts of violence and terrorism that occurred in China recently. It is unacceptable that any forces attempt to achieve their political ambitions through violence. He hopes that the counter-terrorism could come to be an important field of Yemen-China cooperation and between Arab countries and China.

Wang Yi expressed that Yemen is a sincere and credible friend of China in West Asian and North African region. The two peoples enjoy profound traditional friendship. No matter how the situation changes, the Chinese side will continue to develop its relations with Yemen as always. The Chinese side firmly supports the Yemeni side to lead its political transition process, and supports the initiatives taken by the Yemeni government to maintain domestic stability and fight against terrorist forces. The international community, including the Chinese side and the Arab side, should cooperate on counter-terrorism. The Chinese side stands ready to continue to actively participate in the economic reconstruction of Yemen and talent-training for various fields for the urgent needs of the Yemeni side.
