China Evacuates Last Batch of Chinese Citizens in Yemen

At 18:10 April 6 Beijing time, Chinese Navy vessel "Linyi" left Hodeidah Port in Yemen for Djibouti with 24 Chinese citizens onboard. Before that, the Chinese citizens were transported from Yemeni capital Sanaa to Hodeidah port after over five hours' drive organized by the Chinese Embassy in Yemen. The working staff remaining at the Chinese Embassy in Yemen also left the country by the same vessel.

At the request of the Sri Lankan government, the "Linyi" vessel carried 45 Sri Lankan citizens for evacuation at the same time.

Meanwhile, the Chinese naval vessel "Weishanhu" is assisting in the evacuation of 9 Chinese citizens and one Japanese citizen on Socotra Island and is expected to leave today.

Before that, 8 Chinese citizens, assisted by the Pakistani side, left Yemen by Pakistani ship.

Till now, all the 613 Chinese citizens who wished to leave Yemen have received proper arrangement under the organization and assistance of the Chinese government.

In recent evacuation mission in Yemen, the Chinese government safely evacuated 279 citizens from 15 foreign countries in total.

In view of the deteriorating situation in Yemen, the Chinese Embassy in Yemen and Consulate General in Aden are temporarily closed.
