Wang Yi: Promote Dialogue and Negotiation to Politically Resolve the Yemeni Issue

2015-09-30 14:32

On September 29 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the working meeting of the foreign ministers of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council with UN Secretary-General at the UN headquarters in New York of the US. When discussing the situation in Yemen, Wang Yi expressed that the five permanent members should pay high attention to the sustained crisis in Yemen and its spillover effect. Real national conditions in the country should be fully taken into account when resolving the Yemeni issue, and wars and conflicts are no way out. The top priority is that all factions in Yemen stop military actions, resume dialogue and negotiation and thus return to the track of the political settlement. The five permanent members should play their own role to push all parties to earnestly implement the UN Security Council resolution and the Gulf Cooperation Council proposal, and seek solutions that accommodate all parties’ concerns through dialogue, and meanwhile actively give play to role of major countries in the region.
