On July 11, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Foreign Minister Khaled Hussein Alyemany of Yemen who was in China for the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF).

Wang Yi said that China and Yemen are traditional friendly countries. Since the establishment of China-Yemen diplomatic relations, bilateral relations have always been enjoying forward-looking development. China supports Yemen's efforts in safeguarding national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, supports the legitimate government of Yemen and supports the political settlement of the Yemeni issue. The Chinese side is willing to continue to provide assistance for the Yemeni side within China's capacity, especially to help Yemen ease the humanitarian crisis. President Xi Jinping announced the establishment of China-Arab States strategic partnership at the opening ceremony of the 8th CASCF Ministerial Meeting, which charted the course for the development of China-Arab States relations. China is ready to work with Arab States including Yemen to implement the outcomes of the meeting and constantly deepen China-Yemen cooperation in the process of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative by China and Arab States.

Khaled Hussein Alyemany said that Yemen congratulates China on successfully hosting the 8th CASCF Ministerial Meeting and highly appreciates the historic speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony. Yemen is willing to work with China to implement the important initiatives and propositions put forward in the speech, including the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative by Arab States and China. Yemen has traditional friendly relations with China. Yemen thanks China for its long-term assistance to the economic and social development of Yemen, appreciates that China has always supported the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen and supported the legitimate government of Yemen, and hopes that China will continue to play an important role in the Yemeni issue and actively participate in the reconstruction process in Yemen.
