From August 8 to 9, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Li Huilai and Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Papikyan of Armenia co-chaired a consultation between the two Foreign Ministries in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with Li Huilai and his delegation on the sideline of the consultation.

Both sides exchanged in-depth views on the development of China-Armenia relations, advancing cooperation in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and topics of common concern, and expressed that the two countries stand ready to consolidate the traditional bilateral friendship, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and enhance coordination and cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries, so as to push forward China-Armenia relations for continuous, healthy and stable development.

Li Huilai also attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the newly-built premise of Chinese Embassy in Armenia.
