Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili of Georgia

On the afternoon of September 10, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at Dalian State Guesthouse with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili of Georgia, who was in China to attend the Summer Davos Forum 2015.

Li Keqiang stated that China and Georgia respect each other and treat each other as equals, and the development of bilateral relations is at a stage of acceleration. China respects the development path independently chosen by Georgian people in light of their own national conditions, and supports the efforts made by the Georgian government in promoting national and social development. China is willing to see Georgia play a more active role in international and regional affairs.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to strengthen the docking of development strategies with Georgia and to actively participate in its construction of transportation infrastructure such as ports, roads and railways. China will launch substantive negotiations on the bilateral free trade agreement as soon as possible, so as to make new breakthrough in bilateral trade. It is hoped that the two countries will deepen people-to-people and cultural cooperation and advance comprehensive friendly relations.

Irakli Garibashvili said that Georgia and China enjoy traditional friendly cooperation. Developing relations with China is a priority in Georgia's foreign policy. Georgia is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges and to expand economic and trade cooperation with China and welcomes China to increase investment in Georgia. Georgia will become China's reliable cooperative partner in the region, a destination of China's investment and a bridge for China to enter the European market.
