On June 17, 2021, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping met with Kyrgyz Ambassador to China Baktygulova Kanaiym at the latter's request. Both sides exchanged views on issues such as China-Kyrgyzstan relations, inter-departmental and inter-regional security cooperation mechanism, and counter-terrorism and security cooperation.

Cheng Guoping said, since the establishment of our diplomatic ties nearly 30 years ago, the China-Kyrgyzstan relations has stood the test of changing international situations and achieved leapfrog development. The two sides have maintained frequent high-level exchanges, deepened political mutual trust, promoted the Belt and Road Initiative smoothly, and delivered fruitful results in anti-pandemic cooperation. China is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan to improve the inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism, deepen cooperation in fields such as counter-terrorism and security, and jointly safeguard the prosperity and stability of the two countries and the region.

Baktygulova said, Kyrgyzstan appreciates China's strong support for its fight against the COVID-19. Kyrgyzstan attaches high importance to its relations with China, firmly supports China's crackdown on the terrorist forces of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, and fully safeguards the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan stands ready to work with China to leverage the inter-departmental and inter-regional mechanism, promote security cooperation and sub-national exchanges, and jointly safeguard regional security and stability.
