On July 15, 2023, Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs of the Chinese Government Qian Bo visited the Cook Islands, during which he met respectively with Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Cook Islands Tingika Elikana and Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Tepaeru Herrmann. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations, China's relations with Pacific island countries, and international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
