On February 24, 2006, State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with visiting Foreign Minister Sebatian Anefal of the Federated States of Micronesia in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Tang said that China expects to develop the friendly and cooperative relations with Micronesia and other Pacific Island Countries on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. China takes Micronesia as a trustworthy and good partner and friend and would like to make joint efforts with Micronesia to consistently consolidate and push forward China-Micronesia relations.

Anefal reiterated that the Micronesian government would resolutely pursue the one-China policy in the long run and be committed to further expanding and deepening the friendly cooperation with China in both bilateral and multilateral areas.
