On December 21, 2007, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met respectively with visiting Micronesian President Emanuel Mori, Senegalese Foreign Minister Cheikh Tidiane Gadio and Foreign Minister of Bolivia David Choquehuanca in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

During his meeting with Mori, Wen said bilateral ties have been developing steadily since the two countries forged diplomatic ties. "Facts have shown the friendly ties between China and Micronesia are in the common interests of both peoples and also conducive to peace and prosperity in the region of the Pacific islands," Wen added. Wen said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to China-Micronesia relationship and sees Micronesia as a good friend and good partner. He said China is ready to make joint efforts with Micronesia to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields including economy and trade, culture, education and health, in a bid to continuously promote the development of China-Micronesia friendly and cooperative ties featuring long-term stability and mutual benefits.

Wen also expressed his appreciation of the Micronesian government's long-standing adherence to the one-China policy and opposition to "Taiwan independence".

Mori said the friendly relationship between Micronesia and China has developed smoothly, and the two sides have developed successful cooperation in the fields of communication, energy, agriculture, fishery, trade and tourism, which has helped strengthen Micronesia's ability of national construction. He said Micronesia hopes to learn from China's experience of development and continuously strengthen cooperation with China, expressing his appreciation of China's innovative cooperation with south Pacific island nations.

Mori also reiterated that Micronesia will firmly adhere to the one-China policy.

On the same day, Premier Wen also met with visiting Senegalese Foreign Minister Cheikh Tidiane Gadio and Foreign Minister of Bolivia David Choquehuanca respectively.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the meetings.
