Zheng Zeguang meets with President Peter Christian

From August 16 to 17, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang paid a working visit to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). During the visit, Zheng Zeguang met respectively with President Peter Christian, Acting Speaker of the Congress David Panuelo and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Lorin Robert of the FSM.

Zheng Zeguang said that President Xi Jinping and President Peter Christian held a successful meeting in Beijing this March, reaching important consensus on further developing China-FSM strategic partnership. China is willing to, together with the FSM, earnestly implement outcomes of the meeting between the two heads of state, enhance exchanges at high level and all levels and expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to elevate bilateral relations to new highs and better benefit the two peoples.

The FSM side expressed that both countries have maintained strong relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The FSM side attaches high importance to China’s international influence and role, and thanks China for providing assistance for the economic and social development of the FSM. The FSM side adheres to the one-China policy, firmly safeguards the political foundation of relations between both countries, and is ready to jointly well implement the results of the meeting in Beijing between the two heads of state, in a bid to ensure the continuous development of bilateral strategic partnership.
