On September 11, 2019, President Xi Jinping and President David W. Panuelo of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) exchanged congratulatory messages, warmly celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relationship.

In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping pointed out, since the establishment of China-FSM diplomatic relationship 30 years ago, bilateral relations have maintained sound development. The two sides have kept frequent high-level exchanges, achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation, and increasingly expanded people-to-people and cultural exchanges. I attach great importance to the development of bilateral relations, and stand ready to work with President David W. Panuelo to enhance political mutual trust and deepen practical cooperation and friendly exchanges by taking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries as a new starting point, so as to elevate bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to new highs and better benefit the two peoples.

In his congratulatory message, David W. Panuelo said, relations between the FSM and China are based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Substantial progress has been made in the development of FSM-China relations since the establishment of diplomatic relationship 30 years ago. The FSM side firmly adheres to the One China policy and supports the great Belt and Road Initiative. He sincerely wishes that bilateral relations will be elevated to a higher level in the future.
