Zheng Zeguang meets with Head of State Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese Efi

From May 21 to 23, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang paid a working visit to Samoa, during which he respectively met with Head of State Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese Efi, and Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi, and held working consultation with Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peseta Noumea Simi of Samoa.

Zheng Zeguang expressed that China-Samoa relations have maintained healthy and stable development since both countries established diplomatic relations 42 years ago. President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi decided to establish a strategic partnership in 2014, pushing forward bilateral relations to a new stage of rapid development. China is willing to work with Samoa to well implement the important consensus reached by both leaders, enhance dialogues and exchanges at high level and all levels, deepen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation in various fields and that of under the framework of the "Belt and Road", and promote the further development of bilateral relations, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

Cherishing the traditional friendship with China, Samoa expressed that the country attaches high importance to the development of relations with China, and thanks China for its long-term and selfless assistance to Samoa’s economic and social development. Samoa firmly adheres to the one-China policy, looks forward to participating in the "Belt and Road" construction, and is willing to expand practical cooperation with China in such areas as economy, trade, tourism and infrastructure construction.

During the visit, both sides held the signing ceremony of cooperation document for technical assistance from China to Samoa’s sports facilities.
