On September 29, 2004, Li Zhaoxing met with the Foreign Minister of Vanuatu, Sope in New York. Li said that supporting the economy and social development of Vanuatu is a consistent policy of the Chinese side. Currently the cooperation in such fields like economic and trade, health, culture and education between the two countries is fruitful. He also expressed his belief that Vanuatu's becoming the travel destination country for Chinese citizens will further push forward the development of the relationship between the two countries. Sope thanked China for its help and support on the economic development of Vanuatu and noted that Vanuatu will stick to the one China policy and will not have official exchanges with Taiwan.
