On September 1, 2015, President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Sato Kilman of Vanuatu.

Xi Jinping welcomed Sato Kilman for his attendance of the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression as well as the World Anti-fascist War in China. Xi Jinping pointed out that over the past years, the China-Vanuatu relationship, which saw a substantial progress, has brought tangible benefits for both peoples. We are willing to, together with Vanuatu, maintain exchanges in high level and all other levels, expand dialogue and exchanges between the two governments, legislative bodies, political parties and local governments, deepen practical cooperation in infrastructure construction, agriculture, fishery, tourism and other areas, and intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to push bilateral relations for constant development. China is willing to continue providing economic and technology aid with no political strings attached to Vanuatu and encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Vanuatu.

Xi Jinping stressed that China has always paid great attention to and supported the reasonable appeals of Pacific islands countries including Vanuatu in addressing various global challenges and boosting sustainable development, and China is ready to enhance communication and coordination with Vanuatu on such major issues as the United Nation's post-2015 development agenda and climate change.

Sato Kilman noted that it is of great significance for China to hold the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression as well as the World Anti-fascist War. Vanuatu maintains a vigorous relationship with China and appreciates the assistance and support provided by China over the years, especially the valuable aid in the national reconstruction after the recent intense tropical storm. Vanuatu hopes to keep cooperating with China in national development.
