Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Visits Tunisia

From January 4 to 5, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming visited Tunisia, during which he met respectively with Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, President of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People Mohamed Ennaceur, Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Sabri Bachtobji of Tunisia, exchanging in-depth views with the Tunisian side on bilateral relations and issues of common concern.

 

Zhang Ming said that in recent years, China and Tunisia have maintained a sound development momentum in bilateral relations, constantly deepened political mutual trust as well as continuously advanced pragmatic cooperation. China supports Tunisia's efforts in safeguarding national stability and exploring a development path that suits its own conditions. China is willing to further deepen bilateral friendly cooperation in various fields and maintain close coordination on international and regional issues so as to push bilateral relations for continuous and new development.

The Tunisian side expressed that Tunisia attaches great importance to developing its relations with China and appreciates China's long-term and precious support and assistance to Tunisia. Tunisia is willing to actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction and welcomes more competent Chinese enterprises to invest and establish business in Tunisia in a bid to constantly improve the level of bilateral pragmatic cooperation. Tunisia stands ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China on international and regional issues, including the UN Security Council reform and anti-terrorism.
