Li Keqiang Arrives in Luanda, Starting His Official Visit to Angola

At the invitation of President José Eduardo dos Santos of Angola, Premier Li Keqiang arrived at the Quatro de Fevereiro Airport in Luanda in the afternoon of May 8 by special plane, starting his official visit to Angola. Premier Li Keqiang’s wife Mme. Cheng Hong arrived by the same plane. Vice President Manuel Vicente of Angola and other senior officials of the Angolan government welcomed them at the airport. H.E. Gao Kexiang, Chinese Ambassador to Angola, also greeted them at the airport.

Li Keqiang said that Angola is an important representative of rapidly emerging African continent, and China’s important cooperative partner in Southwest Africa. I am looking forward to making in-depth exchanges of views on bilateral relations and topics of common interest, and expanding cooperation fields and enriching cooperative connotation on the existing cooperation basis, so as to inject new impetus into the development of China-Angola relations.

During his visit, Li Keqiang will hold talks and meetings with Angolan leaders and have in-depth exchanges of views on comprehensively promoting the development of China-Angola relations. Li Keqiang is also scheduled to visit the China-funded enterprises in Angola, visit the representatives of the medical teams sent by China, and hold symposium on livelihood of the Chinese community with the representatives of China-funded enterprises and overseas Chinese citizens.

Li Keqiang arrived in Luanda after concluding his successful visit to Nigeria and his attendance at the 24th World Economic Forum on Africa. When leaving Abuja, Foreign Minister Aminu Wali of Nigeria and Minister of Labor and Productivity Chukwuemeka Ngozichineke Wogu bade him farewell at the airport. The Nigerian side also held a farewell ceremony for Li Keqiang at the airport. H.E. Gu Xiaojie, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, also saw him off at the airport.
