Li Keqiang Meets with President José Eduardo dos Santos of Angola

On the afternoon of June 9, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President José Eduardo dos Santos of Angola, who was paying a state visit to China.

Li Keqiang noted that the current China-Angola relations are standing at the forefront of China-Africa relations. President Xi Jinping held a fruitful talk with you, and I believe that this visit will inject new impetus into the development of China-Angola relationship.

Li Keqiang pointed out that my visit to Angola last year received warm reception from Mr. President and your government, and the consensus reached during the visit is under active implementation. China is willing to, together with Angola, bring the complementary advantages into full play, and transform the bilateral cooperation from the traditional areas of raw materials development and project contracting to production capacity and investment cooperation, so as to together address the economic downward pressure, promote transformation and upgrading of the cooperation and achieve mutual benefit and win-win result. The two sides should enhance the guidance role of the government to strengthen production capacity cooperation in key areas including petrifaction, iron and steel, building materials and textiles, as well as agricultural products processing, broaden the cooperation modes by carry outing cooperation in infrastructure including roads, airports, telecommunications and electricity. Both nations should strengthen financial cooperation and expand financing channels to provide financing support to bilateral cooperation in production capacity, trade and investment. Cooperation on human resources development should also be boosted to provide talents for bilateral cooperation in production capacity.

José Eduardo dos Santos noted that the Angola-China relations enjoy a solid foundation and can be regarded as the model of Africa-China relations. Angola appreciates the important role played by China in promoting peace and stability in Africa. Though standing in different development levels, Angola and China enjoy a strong complementarity and huge potential in mutually beneficial cooperation. Angola, which is standing in an important period of economic reconstruction and industrialization and urgently needs and highly expects China to increase its investment in Angola, is willing to intensify cooperation with China in construction of infrastructure and public facilities, technology, equipment, development experience, personnel training and other sectors, further deepen cooperation in areas including agriculture, industry, energy and finance, and push forward Angola-China strategic partnership to higher level.
