Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi of Botswana

On June 19, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi of Botswana, who was paying an official visit to China.

Wang Yi expressed that China-Botswana relations have withstood the test of time and vicissitudes of international situation over the past four decades since the establishment of China-Botswana diplomatic relations. The two countries have always treated each other as equals and achieved remarkable results in cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, culture, education, health care and military. China is ready to make joint efforts with Botswana to mainly promote the practical cooperation in five major areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry, processing industry, infrastructure construction, human resources development and health care, constantly strengthen political mutual trust, deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation, enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs and push China-Botswana relations for rapid development so as to benefit the two countries and their people.

Wang Yi said that China is now growing stronger, which means that the developing countries are growing stronger, the force to maintain world peace is growing stronger and the strength of good brothers and good friends of African countries is growing stronger. China will unswervingly commit itself to China-Africa win-win cooperation and common development so as to remedy the long-standing historical injustice to developing countries and push for a more equal, just and harmonious world.

Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi thanked for China’s long-term unselfish assistance and support to Botswana and expressed that he fully agrees to Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s suggestions for promoting the Botswana-China cooperation in the five major areas and appreciates China’s important contributions to supporting Africa’s development under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Botswana is willing to make concerted efforts with China to enhance political mutual trust, deepen mutual understanding and develop new areas for mutually beneficial cooperation so as to take Botswana-China relations to a new level.

The two sides also exchanged in-depth opinions on international and regional topics of common interest.
