President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy Attends Inauguration Ceremony of President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti

On May 8, 2016, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Yan Junqi, as President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy, attended at the People's Palace in the capital of Djibouti the inauguration ceremony of President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti.

Before the inauguration ceremony, Ismail Omar Guelleh met at the presidential palace with Yan Junqi on May, 7. Yan Junqi conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes from President Xi Jinping to Ismail Omar Guelleh, and expressed that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Djibouti 37 years ago, bilateral relations have enjoyed healthy and smooth development with fruitful results from the practical cooperation between the two countries. China treasures China-Djibouti traditional friendship, and stands ready to work with Djibouti to strengthen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields between the two countries, so as to promote China-Djibouti relations to continuously reach new levels.

Ismail Omar Guelleh expressed his gratitude to President Xi Jinping for sending special envoy to attend his inauguration ceremony, and expressed that it fully embodies a brotherly friendship between Djibouti and China. Ismail Omar Guelleh asked Yan Junqi to convey his warm greetings and highest respect to President Xi Jinping, saying that China is an important cooperative partner of Djibouti and Djibouti is willing to strengthen friendly cooperation with China in a comprehensive manner.
