Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mahamoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti

On July 29, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mahamoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti, who was in China for the Coordinators' Meeting of the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping and President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh held a fruitful meeting during the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit held last December, charting the course for the development of China-Djibouti relations. At present, friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields between the two countries is exhibiting a momentum of rapid development. China is willing to take this Coordinators' Meeting as an opportunity to dock cooperation ideas with Djibouti, promote the implementation of the summit outcomes and push China-Djibouti relations to another new height.

Mahamoud Ali Youssouf noted that the timely Coordinators' Meeting of the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit this time is of great significance and has scored fruitful results. Djibouti has benefited directly from major infrastructure projects including the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway as well as the water supply project between Ethiopia and Djibouti. The country is willing to enhance strategic coordination with China and comprehensively deepen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in such areas as clean energy and people's livelihood.
