Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui Visits Djibouti

From June 12 to 13, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui visited Djibouti. President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti respectively met with and held talks with him, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.

Zhang Yesui expressed that in recent years, China-Djibouti mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields has enjoyed rapid development, with Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway and Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port as well as other projects being put into operation successively. China is willing to work with Djibouti to comprehensively implement the important consensus of leaders of both countries, grasp the “Belt and Road” construction and the implementation of outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as two major opportunities, integrate cooperation ideas and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to promote bilateral relations for greater and faster development.

Djibouti thanked China for helping its economic and social development for a long time, and expressed that China is a sincere friend and reliable partner of Djibouti. The country is ready to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to enhance friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, so as to better benefit the two countries and their peoples.
