Li Keqiang Meets with President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti

On the afternoon of November 24, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, who was paying a state visit to China.

Li Keqiang expressed that Djibouti is an important cooperative partner of China in East Africa. Both countries have always respected each other and treated each other equally. President Xi Jinping held talks with Mr. President and identified China-Djibouti relations as strategic partnership, making comprehensive planning for the development of bilateral relations in the future. Both sides will continue enhancing mutual trust and deepening cooperation to forge a model for South-South cooperation.

Li Keqiang noted that China is willing to give play to complementary advantages, and well implement the flagship project of infrastructure and production capacity cooperation with Djibouti so as to make Djibouti a regional commerce and trade and logistics hub as well as help Djibouti improve its economic and social development and people's livelihood. China encourages capable Chinese enterprises to invest and establish business in Djibouti and hopes that Djibouti will provide safe and convenient conditions for Chinese enterprises.

Ismail Omar Guelleh expressed that Djibouti and China are good friends and good partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 38 years ago, the two countries have always treated each other sincerely, achieved fruitful outcomes from bilateral cooperation and enjoyed mutual benefit and win-win results. Djibouti thanks China for providing support for its development and stands ready to give full play to its geographical advantage and deepen cooperation with China, in a bid to boost common development.
