On March 23, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Diaspora of Equatorial Guinea Simeón Oyono Esono Angue.

Qin Gang said that Mr. Simeón Oyono Esono Angue is the first African country’s foreign minister to pay an official visit to China after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and this fully testifies to the great importance China attaches to China-Equatorial Guinea relations and the profound iron-clad friendship between the two countries. Qin Gang thanked Equatorial Guinea for upholding principles and supporting China's legitimate propositions on issues involving China's core interests and major concerns. China will, as always, continue to support Equatorial Guinea in independently pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions, safeguarding national sovereignty, and opposing external interference in its internal affairs. China is ready to work with Equatorial Guinea to follow through on the important common understandings between the two heads of state, maintain high-level exchanges, strengthen practical cooperation, deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and consolidate public support to advance bilateral relations to new levels.

Qin Gang said that President Xi Jinping's unanimous re-election during the just successfully concluded China's NPC and CPPCC Sessions is of important and far-reaching significance. Going forward, China will maintain high-level consistency of its domestic and foreign policies, and inject certainty, stability and positive energy into a world fraught with turbulence and changes. Qin noted that the Chinese economy is full of resilience and vitality, and will achieve fairly strong growth this year, continuously making important contributions to global recovery. China is working to advance Chinese modernization on all fronts, pursue high-quality development, and expand high-standard opening up, all of which will bring new development opportunities to Equatorial Guinea. China is ready to work with Equatorial Guinea to further synergize development strategies of the two countries, deepen exchanges on state governance, and will help Equatorial Guinea enhance independent development capability. China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Equatorial Guinea, and welcomes the entry of more specialty products of Equatorial Guinea into the Chinese market.

Simeón Oyono Esono Angue said that China is a true friend, good brother and good partner of Equatorial Guinea and Africa. He sincerely thanked China for providing support for Equatorial Guinea’s diversified development and fight against the pandemic, and said that nothing can stop Equatorial Guinea from deepening friendship and cooperation with China. Equatorial Guinea firmly adheres to the one-China principle and opposes interfering in China's internal affairs under the pretext of human rights. Equatorial Guinea and China share highly similar philosophies, and both advocate sovereign equality, independence and peaceful settlement of international disputes. He noted that China's success brings hope to other developing countries, and that Equatorial Guinea highly appreciates and supports the important initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping to promote world peace, security and development, and supports China's position on the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.

Qin Gang emphasized that China always advocates mutual respect, equality and win-win cooperation. China always stands on the side of peaceful development as well as fairness and justice, and on the right side of history. Having proposed the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, President Xi Jinping has further proposed the Global Civilization Initiative which advocates that countries need to overcome cultural misunderstanding, clash and supremacy through exchanges, mutual learning and coexistence. China welcomes Equatorial Guinea’s active response to and support for the Global Civilization Initiative and its effort to jointly carry forward the common values of humanity. China will continue to actively implement the follow-up actions to the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, accelerate the implementation of the nine programs, deeply synergize the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the African Union's Agenda 2063 and development strategies of African countries, support Africa in realizing economic recovery and sustainable development, and promote the building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
