On July 5, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng met in Beijing with Vice President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue.

Han Zheng said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than half a century ago, China and Equatorial Guinea have stood together through thick and thin, and the friendship has grown from strength to strength. With the promotion of the two heads of state, China-Equatorial Guinea comprehensive cooperative partnership has seen in-depth development. China always regards Equatorial Guinea as a sincere friend and reliable partner, and will continue to firmly support each other in safeguarding respective core interests, enhance exchanges of governance experience, strengthen friendly exchanges at all levels, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields, so as to take bilateral relations to a new level. Noting the valuable solidarity between China and Equatorial Guinea under the current circumstances, Han Zheng said that the two sides should unequivocally work together to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries and maintain world peace and development.

Mangue said that Equatorial Guinea and China share a brotherly friendship. He sincerely thanks China for taking the lead in assisting Equatorial Guinea in its fight against COVID-19, which has further upgraded the traditional friendship between the two countries. Equatorial Guinea regards China as a strategic partner and will abide by the one-China principle. Equatorial Guinea is firmly committed to deepening friendly cooperation with China and stands ready to strengthen coordination with China to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
