Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Visits the State of Eritrea

From January 23 to 24, 2015, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming visited the State of Eritrea, meeting and holding talks with Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed of Eritrea, Head of Political Affairs at the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) Yemane Gebreab and Head of Economic Affairs at the PFDJ Hagos Gebrehiwet. They exchanged in-depth views on the development of bilateral relations and international and regional topics of common interest. H.E. Qiu Xuejun, Chinese Ambassador to Eritrea, was present at the meeting.

Zhang Ming expressed that China and Eritrea enjoy profound friendship. For 22 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship, bilateral relations have been developing smoothly and the results of mutually beneficial cooperation have benefited the two peoples. China stands ready to work with Eritrea to comprehensively enhance friendly cooperation in all fields so as to realize mutual benefit with win-win results and common development and bring benefit to the two peoples.

Eritrea thanked China for the selfless assistance and tremendous support to Eritrea's economic and social development over the years, expressing that Eritrea attaches great importance to the friendly cooperative relations with China and stands ready to further strengthen bilateral political mutual trust and deepen cooperation in infrastructure, mining, agriculture and other fields, so as to promote comprehensive and in-depth development of Eritrea-China relations.

During his visit, Vice Minister Zhang Ming and Foreign Minister Osman jointly signed a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and service passport holders, gave interviews to the local press, visited embassy personnel and had a field inspection of the embassy premises under construction.
