On April 11, 2016, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng, who was paying an official goodwill visit to Gabon, met in Libreville with President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon.

Yu Zhengsheng firstly conveyed the warm greetings from President Xi Jinping. Yu Zhengsheng said that Gabon is China's traditional friend and an important cooperative partner in Africa, and fruitful results have been yielded from bilateral cooperation in various fields. In December, 2015, President Xi Jinping and Mr. President held meeting during the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and reached important consensus on promoting bilateral cooperation in various fields, charting course for the development of China-Gabon relations. China stands ready to work with Gabon to comprehensively implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote the outcomes of the summit including China-Africa "ten major cooperation plans" to implement and yield fruitful results as soon as possible in Gabon, so that China-Gabon relations can be a good example of win-win cooperation and common development between China and the African countries.

Yu Zhengsheng expressed that in order to comprehensively deepen the friendly cooperation between China and Gabon, both sides should give full play to the role of high-level mutual visits as political guidance, and firmly seize the development direction of bilateral relations. The two sides should continuously understand and support each other on issues involving their core interests and major concerns. The two countries should align the development concept featuring innovation, coordination, green economy, openness, and sharing of China's "13th Five-Year Plan" with the development goal of "Green Gabon, Industrial Gabon and Service-Oriented Gabon" put forward by Mr. President, and deepen bilateral practical cooperation, so as to bring more benefits to the people of the two countries. Both sides should also strengthen coordination and cooperation on climate change, Africa's peace and security and other issues, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries. China supports Gabon to play a greater role in international and regional affairs.

Ali Bongo Ondimba expressed that Gabon and China enjoy a profound traditional friendship and yield fruitful results from bilateral friendly cooperation in various fields. Gabon thanks China for its important supports for Gabon's development. Gabon attaches great importance to developing its relations with China, and appreciates China for always upholding the notion of win-win cooperation. Gabon stands ready to learn from China's experience of development and reform, and continue to strengthen bilateral practical cooperation in forestry, agriculture, infrastructure, energy resources, tourism, peace and security, and other fields so as to make Gabon-China relations a good example and the development momentum more powerful and vigorous.
