On April 13, 2016 local time, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng, during his official goodwill visit to Gabon from April 11 to 13 at the invitation of Senate Speaker Lucie Milebou of Gabon, met respectively with President Ali Bongo Ondimba, Prime Minister Daniel Ona Ondo and President of the National Assembly Richard Onouviet, and held talks with Senate Speaker Lucie Milebou.

Yu Zhengsheng conveyed warm greetings to the leaders of Gabon from President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang.

When meeting with Ali Bongo Ondimba, Yu Zhengsheng said that President Xi Jinping and leaders of African countries together decided to upgrade China-Africa relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and to implement the ten major China-Africa cooperation plans at the Johannesburg Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation last December. China-Africa cooperation ushers in important opportunities and faces broad prospects for development. China is willing to work with Gabon to seize the opportunity and stride forward to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and jointly promote the results of the summit to be carried out in Gabon, so as to make China-Gabon relations a good example of win-win cooperation and common development between China and African countries.

Ali Bongo Ondimba expressed that Gabon and China enjoy a profound traditional friendship and yield fruitful results from cooperation in various fields. Gabon attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and agrees with the ideas and plans proposed by President Xi Jinping on the development of Africa-China relations. The Gabonese side stands ready to learn from China's experience in development and reform, and continue to strengthen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields so as to make Gabon-China relations a good example and push for a stronger development momentum of the bilateral relations.

When meeting with Daniel Ona Ondo, Yu Zhengsheng said that the long-term friendship and close high-level exchanges between China and Gabon have laid a solid political foundation for bilateral practical cooperation. China will make efforts to implement the development concepts of innovation, coordination, green economy, openness and sharing during the period of its 13th Five-Year Plan, which are highly consistent with Gabon's development strategy of "Green Gabon, Industrial Gabon and Service-Oriented Gabon". The two sides should deeply align their development strategies, and deepen cooperation in the fields of agriculture, forestry, infrastructure, energy resources, green development and other fields to help Gabon realize diversified economic development and improve its independent development capacity.

Daniel Ona Ondo expressed his gratitude for China's selfless and long-term assistance to Gabon's economic development. Gabon is willing to further expand its cooperation with China in transportation, electricity, communication, energy and other fields, and welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and develop their business in Gabon. Gabon expects China to continue to support the implementation of Gabon's development strategies, and help Gabon to promote economic diversification, accelerate the process of industrialization, improve the technical level of agriculture and forestry, and set up special economic zones.

When meeting with Richard Onouviet, Yu Zhengsheng said that currently both China and Gabon are committed to economic and social development and improving people's living standards. China is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the National Assembly of Gabon and conduct exchanges and mutual learning in managing state affairs.

Richard Onouviet expressed that the National Assembly of Gabon attaches great importance to exchanges with China and actively supports the development of friendly cooperation in all fields between the two countries.

During the talks with Lucie Milebou, Yu Zhengsheng said that the traditional friendship between China and Gabon has been tested by time and is strong and vigorous. The mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields has brought tangible benefits to the peoples of the two countries. The two sides should maintain close high-level exchanges and continue to support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. Both sides should strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and human resources cooperation, and deepen cooperation in culture, education, health, sports and other fields. The two countries should coordinate closely in international affairs and jointly protect the interests of developing countries. The CPPCC is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Senate of Gabon and welcomes more Gabonese senators to visit China.

Lucie Milebou expressed that Gabon-China friendship is deeply rooted in people's heart. The political mutual trust is constantly growing, and practical cooperation is becoming closer. Both sides work in close collaboration in safeguarding world peace and security, addressing global challenges and so on. The Senate of Gabon is willing to strengthen exchanges with China and jointly promote the in-depth development of bilateral relations.

During his stay in Gabon, Yu Zhengsheng visited and expressed his solicitude to the Chinese medical aid teams and military medical sections in Gabon. He affirmed the achievements made by medical workers in Gabon and encouraged them to better serve the local people and promote China-Africa friendship. Yu Zhengsheng visited a China-Gabon demonstration elementary School, and hoped that both countries will strengthen cooperation in education so as to cultivate more talents for the future development of Gabon. Yu Zhengsheng also inspected the Special Economic Zone of Nkok and the Chinese enterprise Huajia Wood Industry Co., Ltd.
