Wang Yi Meets with Gabonese Foreign Minister Hermann Immongault

On July 10, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with Gabonese Foreign Minister Hermann Immongault in Beijing.

Wang Yi welcomed Foreign Minister Hermann Immongault to China to attend the First High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development. President Xi Jinping has put forward the Global Development Initiative, calling on the international community to refocus on development, and build consensus and add impetus to the realization of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Development is the key to solving all problems. China will realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through the advancement of Chinese modernization on all fronts, bring new development opportunities for developing countries, especially for African countries at the same time, and provide a reference for other countries in exploring development paths suited to their national realities.

Wang Yi said that the high-level political mutual trust is the greatest advantage of China-Gabon relations. In April this year, President Xi Jinping and President Ali Bongo Ondimba had a successful meeting in Beijing and jointly elevated China-Gabon relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, injecting strong impetus into the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to work with Gabon to continue to support each other in safeguarding respective core interests, promote China-Gabon cooperation to more fields and a higher level, and jointly uphold the basic norms governing international relations. China appreciates Gabon's active participation in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and will continue to follow the principles of sincerity, real results, affinity, and good faith and the commitment to the greater good and shared interests. China will work with Gabon and other African countries to carry forward the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation to constantly open up new prospects for China-Africa cooperation.

Noting this conference demonstrates China's firm determination and solid measures to accelerate the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, Immongault said that Gabon speaks highly of China's contributions to global peace and development, highly appreciates China for establishing the FOCAC and proposing a series of initiatives on its cooperation with Africa. Gabon is ready to work with China to advance the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future. Gabon-China relations have achieved high-quality development under the guidance of the two heads of state. Gabon will continue to abide by the one-China principle. Gabon thanks China for its valuable support and assistance in Gabon's diversified development and accelerated transformation, looks forward to deepening cooperation with China in various fields, and welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Gabon.
