Ghanaian President Mahama Meets with President Hu Jintao's Special Envoy Chen Lei

On January 6, 2013, Ghanaian President Mahama met with Special Envoy of President Hu Jintao and Minister of Water Resources Chen Lei, who is in the Ghanaian capital Accra for the inauguration ceremony of President Mahama.

Chen conveyed President Hu’s congratulations to Mahama for his election and taking office. Chen said currently China and Ghana have maintained close exchanges at all levels, with strengthened political mutual trust and fruitful economic and trade cooperation. The Chinese side is satisfied with the status quo of the relations between the two countries, and is willing to work with Ghana to keep closer exchanges and cooperation in various fields and push the traditional friendly and cooperative relations to a new level.

Mahama thanked President Hu Jintao for sending a special envoy to his inauguration ceremony, and asked Chen to convey his cordial greetings to President Hu. Mahama said the traditional friendship created by the older generations of leaders of the two countries has been carried forward and developed. Recent years have witnessed frequent high-level visits and close economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. The new Ghanaian government attaches importance to developing relations with China and is willing to join hands with China to push bilateral friendly cooperation to a new height.
