On May 16, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with the delegation of young Kenyan diplomats.

Chen Xiaodong expressed that the delegation of young Kenyan diplomats is welcome to visit China, and pointed out that Kenya is China's important partner in Africa, as well as an active participant in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). It is hoped that Kenyan diplomats will get a deeper understanding on China through this visit, and inherit and carry forward China-Kenya traditional friendship to push bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for greater development.

The Kenyan side thanked the Chinese side for its long-term help to Kenya's economic and social development, and expressed that Kenya will continue committing to developing Kenya-China relations, and actively participate in the joint construction of the BRI and FOCAC affairs. The Kenyan side expects to learn China's experience to boost its own development.
