Li Xi Meets with President of Kenya William Samoei Ruto

On October 16, 2023, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection Li Xi met in Beijing with President of Kenya William Samoei Ruto who is in China to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Li Xi said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kenya. Belt and Road cooperation between China and Kenya has been at the forefront of China-Africa cooperation, and China is ready to work with Kenya to implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, promote the close alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Kenya's development strategies, and work for more new achievements in the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. Li Xi introduced relevant situations of China's advancing strict Party self-governance and anti-corruption struggle under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, and said that China is ready to continuously strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Kenya in fighting corruption, advance the development of the Clean Silk Road, and boost steady and sustained development of the BRI.

William Samoei Ruto said that the BRI put forth by President Xi Jinping has brought tangible benefits to the people of Kenya and China, and expressed the hope for achieving a new height of bilateral relations.
